Is it easy to change from a bit to a bitless?
Always take precautions and ride in an enclosed space to begin with.
There are many many horses that I have changed to a bitless and they have all responded better after the initial teething adjustment (which only took minutes).
Treat it the same as you would a snaffle bit. The harder one to transfer bitless to, is if you went straight from a bit to a bosal.
This bitless is very similar to a bit (pressure on, pressure off) so it is easy for horses to figure out.
The advantages of the MLH Bitless
Any bitless bridles that have a form of shank leverage (bars down the side that can enable people to put pressure on the nose) or pressure leverage system or hugging system (it squeezes or hugs the nose or poll) I would stay clear of.
These all result in the release of the rein being later and not accurate; the angle of the rein can be diluted and not so accurate; and too much pressure or hugging can be a lot on a sensitive horse.
Some horses can feel trapped by this additional pressure.
I designed this so that it can be modified for different sized horses. The noseband piece is designed to offer a lot less movement. Where there are any fittings or where the reins connect, there is strong stitching. This is made from thick leather that won’t wear out quickly.
